Age Groups U8–U13 (requires accompanying Parent Membership)
Must join club by first Sunday in December to participate in program
Our vibrant and excitable Woodside Nippers can be seen at Middleton Beach every Sunday from November to March. Woodside Nippers is Surf Life Saving WA’s junior surf awareness and beach safety program that introduces children aged 5 years to 13 years to the great Australian weekend tradition of surf lifesaving. Our main program is held on Sunday mornings. Our Nippers run, swim, paddle, laugh, and make new friends. It’s what we call serious fun while they complete the Woodside Nippers curriculum comprised of 4 key learning areas:
Surf Awareness
Individual Safety
Lifesaving Skills
Surf Sports Skills
All skill levels and abilities are supported in each age group of the program. Woodside Nippers are provided with a Woodside Nipper uniform pack comprising of a hat, surf cap, yellow vest and bag at the start of the season. Nippers must be wearing their Woodside Nippers uniform to participate in Woodside Nipper activities. Nippers may choose to wear club bathers (purchased at the Club Uniform Shop) or their own bathers or rash top.
Woodside Nippers are required to be accompanied by at least one parent with a financial membership, either as a parent member, active senior member or as part of a family membership. Parents are required to be present on the beach, with their child’s age group, at all times.
Please register your child/ren and yourself as a parent member or family group, by using this link: https://sls.com.au/join/

Parent of Woodside Nipper
Each Woodside Nipper (U6-U13 age groups) must have at least one parent or guardian join the club with them. Parent/Guardian membership is the perfect membership option for parents and guardians who just wanting to enjoy Sunday mornings on the beach with their children, come along to social events like our Friday night sundowners, volunteer around the club and have the opportunity to gain Surf Life Saving Australia Awards such as the Nipper Rescue Certificate, first aid and resuscitation.
Parent membership entitles access to the club during organised club activity and are not eligible for fob access.
Please note: As part of registration requirements, parent members will be required to either provide a WWCC if they have one OR if exempt, sign the volunteer declaration form. This is to ensure that the club meet their compliance requirements.
Many parents/guardians do go on to become active volunteers and/or patrolling members of our club, finding it a wonderful way to connect with other families and develop friendships.
